“I have spent almost all of my adult life in and around Delran and nearly my entire career helping my fellow railroad workers.”
Dan was raised in Burlington County, graduated from Holy Cross High School, attended Marquette University and later returned to Delran to live in Summerhill.
On the Right Track
He started his career as a locomotive fireman for the Penn Central Railroad and completed training to become a locomotive engineer for Conrail and New Jersey Transit, running passenger trains into and out of New York City.
Giving Back to His Fellow Workers
While still working as a locomotive engineer, Dan worked part-time as an officer for the United Transportation Union. He addressed the needs and concerns of hard-working, middle-class families as he helped his fellow workers with payroll problems, health care, and retirement concerns.
In 1996, Dan earned the position of State Director of United Transportation Union where he addresses the issues of its members in ten locals throughout New Jersey.
