Transparency

Transparency is a word we hear often during campaigns. When we talk about transparency, it’s because we’ve actually been doing it for 16 years. The lack of quality and timeliness of the information available and its importance to our residents are some of the reasons Mayor Gary Catrambone first started going to township meetings in 1998. He saw then that attending meetings and asking questions helped residents become better engaged with their town and also allowed those residents to help secure the future of the town for generations to come.

In 2000, residents had to pay just to get a copy of the minutes of each meeting. So, he created the first website in Delran, providing residents with free online access to township information.

When Gary was first elected to the Town Council in 2008, social media pages were created, live streaming for meetings, and an even better website.

In the last four years, we have continued to build on the free and open communication with the development of a Communications Committee, which looked at a variety of ways to disseminate information to residents.

Additionally, we launched the most comprehensive version of Recycle Coach to assist residents in engaging with Public Works, and have launched an outbound communication application to send vital information to residents.

We continue to expand on the initial transparency we provided to residents, and are always looking at new ways to reach residents. When we talk about transparency, we mean it and we’re doing it!
